Kirkwood, Missouri Area Links

The Kirkwood-Des Peres Area Chamber of Commerce was established 60 years ago and has a membership of over 600 businesses and individuals. James Durbin served as a board member from 2000 through 2003 and in 2004 James Durbin Jewelry Design was awarded and recognized as an Outstanding Business during the Chamber's annual Small Business Week held each May.

The City of Kirkwood is proud to be the first planned residential community west of the Mississippi River. Established in 1853 along the Missouri-Pacific Railroad, Kirkwood continues to welcome daily passenger trains to its historic downtown station, where a unique and vibrant shopping and dining district welcomes visitors and residents alike. James and Martha were named Citizens of the Year in 2006 at the annual awards banquet

The Kirkwood Special Business District was established in 1975. Developed by business and property owners, the Kirkwood SBD was the first district of its kind in the State of Missouri. It was created so businesses cooperatively could enhance the Downtown by developing an advertising plan. James and Martha Durbin have both served on committees and commissions for the Special Business District. Today the SBD also oversees the Farmers' Market and provides Special Events for the District.
