James Durbin Jewelry Design is located between highway 40/64 and I44 in Kirkwood, Missouri the southwest
portion of St. Louis County. (
see map) James Durbin is owned by
James and Martha Durbin and has been
in business since 1978. The business began as a wholesale Southwestern Art and Jewelry business selling to
Boutiques, Jewelers and Western stores. In the early 1980’s, the focus changed to Gemstones and Diamonds with a
reputation of carrying excellent quality fine jewelry. In 1991, James Durbin opened his store in Kirkwood and the store
has grown and developed to be recognized as one of the premier custom design jewelry stores in the St. Louis metropolitan
area. James Durbin Jewelry Design expanded and moved to 114 West Jefferson Avenue in 2001. The new store involved a
complete remodel. James and Martha’s vision was to create a place that provided elegance of the 40’s with
modern features that would not be intimidating to clients. The three-terraced ceiling with indirect lighting

was one of the most
important features to the overall store design. The cherry wood cases with curved glass also complemented and fulfilled
the elegant design. The downtown Kirkwood Junction Special Business District awarded the Durbin’s an Enhancement
Award in 2002 for their renovation and remodel. James Durbin Jewelry Design has professional memberships in Jewelers of
America, Missouri Jewelers Association, American Gem Trade Association, and American Craft Council. In 2004, James Durbin
Jewelry Design was recognized as an Outstanding Small Business in The Kirkwood-Des Peres Area Chamber of Commerce.
